Our meeting point is going to be at Las Letronas of Gijón (the famous red sign with the name of the city next to the Leisure Port), at the time set, which is the perfect place to start off our visit and talk about the history of the city of Gijón which has always been related to the sea.
We will visit the old town and we will learn about one of the first settlers of the city: the Roman Empire. We will stop in front of the Revillagigedo Palace, which is next to the popular Fountain of Don Pelayo, the first King of Asturias.
We will walk through the streets of the Cimadevilla neighborhood, the home to many families that lived from fishing for years and you will see how the energy of that time is preserved. Also, the San Lorenzo beach, one of the most appreciated of the region.
Afterwards, we will enter the birthplace museum of Jovellanos, he was an important character of the Spanish Enlightenment, and we will learn about the history of Gijón through art.
To end it off, we will visit the Main Hall of the city and we will taste the traditional drink, the Asturian cider!
